Finally going to drag race...need guidance!

Can anyone point me to a good tutorial on the internet on how to drag race? I've never done it before and I don't wanna go to the strip and look like an a$$. I'll be going in two weeks to Quaker City Raceway in Ohio. They charge $8.00 to run all night...is that a good price?

Just some general advice for the first time out.

On an open road somewhere, get a general idea of how fast (all 100%) you can shift through the gears.

Then when you go to the track for the first time, consciously make an effort to back off to about 95% of this speed. You'll be less stressed, and will probably run a fairly quick time.

$8 is an awesome price. We have to pay $25 to do it in Seattle unless you like to race really late at night, if you know what I mean, then it is free

Go to an open road and practice your launches. Get an idea of how much throttle you need to launch w/o losing traction. If you get your launch down the rest is just shifting through the gears and keeping it in your lane.

That's an awesome price. I pay $15 usually. There was a drag racing tutorial in an older issue of hot rod honda a while back... Although by thge time you get it, it will be too late.

Ill write a basic primer after I have had some sleep unless someone else does it first...
